Sharing our experience in web design and search engine optimization
Here you can find our articles, that are connected with our experience in web design and search engine optimization. Everything described below is included to Louisville KY Web Design standard website development procedure, so you can learn what we can offer to you.
We are living in an era, where the success of every local company, start-up or personal business venture is dictated by the Internet. Your ranking on the search engines can either bring you success or the opposite. Today, running a business means that you have to chase clients, not the opposite. Your potential customers can be easily stolen by rival companies, whose websites are ranked higher in the search engines than yours. In fact, everything that matters is to be on the first page of search results, because according to statistics less than 20% of people are looking at the 2nd page and even less are going further. That’s why SEO became extremely important, and hiring a specialist in this field can increase you income. Search Engine Optimization is a long-term process, which takes a lot of effort and experience and hiring a specialist will cost you from 500$/month and upward.
Hypothetically, what if you are just getting started and don’t have enough the capital to hire an SEO company or individual to help you climb to the first page on search engines? Don’t get frustrated – here are some steps that you can do yourself, which are not that complicated but may bring great results. There are two types of SEO: internal and external. Internal optimization includes everything that you can maximize on your own to make your website more attractive to the important search engines, such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. External optimization is the process of getting the maximum amount of links from other websites and resources. This type of SEO is affecting the page rank of your website, but may take a lot of time, effort and investment. It is highly recommended that before starting external optimization you have to be sure that you have accomplished internal SEO. So let’s get started!
There are lots of different SEO methods, and sometimes you just don’t know what to expect, because different specialists prefer different approaches and believe that they do the only right thing. Sometimes you just have to try and see which ones will work and which won’t. Let’s try to define basic steps, and later on we will take closer look on each one.
Add your website to Google Webmaster Tools, to be in complete control of its main features.
Add Google Analytics script to the bottom of html code on your page. This will allow you to discover the traffic and find information about your potential clients.
Verify html and css code of your website using W3C verification service. It will help you to avoid critical errors that may affect performance of your website, which can decrease its trust and ranking on search engines.
Don’t forget about title tag. Make it as short (up to 60-70 symbols) and descriptive as possible. Try to put your main keyword on the first place.
Use all meta tags that you can: author, description, keywords, robots, etc.
Try to make description tag less than 160 symbols but as informative as you can.
Avoid duplicate pages in your index. Make sure you have unique content, which includes keywords that you’re looking for.
Use canonical link, to sort your pages.
Create and check sitemap.xml. Don’t forget to submit it to Google Webmaster tools. It will help your website to be indexed faster.

Submit your page to search engines, especially Google, Yahoo and Bing.
If your page is displayed both with and without www prefix, use 301 redirect on your web host, to redirect users to preferred address.
Optimize speed of your website. Decrease quality of images, delete meta data from images, compress them, compress your website using gzip or deflate algorithm.
